Today I will show you my interview. It is very important for me because it's about my mother and some aspect of her life. She was born in Chillán in 1959. She studied nursing at the DUOC in Chillán. She has two beautiful children =)
Nowadays she is working in a small hospital in Coihueco near the house.
Interview: Gladys Meza
Profession: Nurse
1. What did you want to be when you were a child?
Mmm..I want to be a teacher. I like to work with children, I think it's very interesting.
2. When did you decide to study nursing?
Never...jajaja.
Well, I was in high school, in my second grade, I didn't like to study, it was boring.
So I decided to take a course in First Aids, because it was very short.
Then I knew about a course of nursing and took it because it was short too.
3. How was your life during your studies?
Mmm....It was very stressful. I had to study very hard because this course was intensive. My course of First Aids helped me a lot.
4. What was the most relevant event during your studies?
Well I think when I was doing my intership and a patient died. I had to dress him. It was terrible!!
I couldn't forget him.
5. Which are the differences between a small hospital and a big one?
The most important difference is that in a small hospital only you have the responsibility of everything. You are the authority in that place. You decide.
In a big hospital you are another worker.
6. What is the most beautiful feeling or event in your profession?
Patients love and respect you. People are very kind and polite.
They always say "thank you Miss Nurse"
7. Do you have any anecdote related with your job?
Yes. When I was in a small hospital in a countryside. One day a drunk man arrived to the small hospital, I helped him. He had a headache so I gave him a pill.
Two days later he was found dead. His family went to the police because they thought that his death was my fault, but he died of heart attack.
8. How many years have you been working at the hospital?
For 15 years. It has been very interesting and wonderfull.
This was the interview to my mother, I had a fun time with her. I knew things that I never thought.
I hope you like it !! =)
